French Onion Beef Bowls

Let me introduce you to one of my all-time favorite comfort food recipes: French Onion Beef Bowls. These bowls are like a fun twist on the classic French onion soup, blending tender shredded beef with savory broth and gooey melted cheese for an insanely indulgent experience.

Just imagine: you’ve got those rich, caramelized flavors from searing the beef, mingling with the fragrant garlic and onions, creating this amazing aroma that wafts through your kitchen. And then, you add in some beef broth, a splash of wine (if you’re feeling fancy), and a dash of Worcestershire sauce for that extra oomph. Trust me, each spoonful is a flavor explosion!

But what takes these French Onion Beef Bowls to the next level? That generous slice of melted cheese on top of each bowl. It’s like a cozy blanket of creamy deliciousness that just ties everything together.

Servings 6 People

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chuck steak, trimmed
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 3/4 cup white wine
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Prepare the steak by trimming any excess fat. Next, set your Instant Pot to sauté mode. Once it's hot, add the beef and sear it for about 2-3 minutes. After that, remove the beef from the Instant Pot.
  • In the same pot, add butter and minced garlic. Toss in the onions and sauté them for around 3 minutes. Pour in 1 cup of beef broth, making sure to scrape any flavorful bits stuck to the bottom with a wooden spoon. Then, add the remaining beef broth, wine, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Return the beef to the Instant Pot and season it with salt. Set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 12 minutes. Once done, let it naturally release for 10 minutes before performing a quick release.
  • Take out the beef, discard any excess fat, and shred the meat. Add the shredded beef back into the pot.
  • When serving, place a slice of cheese in each bowl. Enjoy!
