Why Walking Equals Success

Do you ever feel like your workout isn’t enough?  I absolutely hate that some people feel this way.  I hear this the most often when people talk about walking.  Almost every time people will say “Oh, I just walk.” Why do we do this?  It isn’t “just” walking, it’s damn walking and it’s a fantastic way to exercise! We need to stop downplaying our form of exercise because we don’t think it will be enough for others.  In this post we are going to focus on walking and just how fantastic it is!

Walking IS a Workout

I want to get this cleared up right from the start.  Walking is a really great workout and still so many people downplay it and make it seem like it isn’t enough.  Can we please stop saying we “just” walk and say we walk!  You do not have to be in the gym for hours at a time lifting insanely heavy weights for it to be a workout.

The biggest thing I want you to remember here is that one form of exercise isn’t better than another.  Your workouts aren’t better than mine and mine aren’t better than yours!  The best workout out there is the one you enjoy doing and can be consistent with!  If that’s walking than fantastic, if it’s rock climbing than fabulous, it doesn’t matter what you do just that you are moving!

Benefits Of Walking

The benefits of “just” walking (see what I did there haha) may surprise you, especially if you are still downplaying the movement.  Walking can help you maintain and lose body fat, help improve your cardiovascular health, improve your mood and strengthen your immune system!  Not seeing a downside here! Plus it can help with so many different health issues

If you have been following my journey for a while you will notice I love crossfit style workouts.  It took me a long time to find a style of workout that worked well for me and once I found this style I was hooked.  That doesn’t mean I don’t do other things though and walking is still in there for workouts for me! While there are so many pros to walking, one of my favorite reasons to walk is to improve my mood.  We have all had those days where everything just seems to be going wrong.  Sometimes on days like this lifting weights just isn’t going to happen and that is where I bring in walking!  It helps me keep my body moving but also clear my head and I always feel so much better after!

Well, there you have it!  I know it is easy to get wrapped up in what everyone else is doing.  The key here is that you find what you love to do and if that is going for walks everyday after work then stop making yourself believe it isn’t good enough.  Be proud that you are getting out and moving every day because that is the overall goal!
