3 Books that Will Kick Start Your Motivation

I love books! Really all kinds of books. Did I ever tell you I am also a Kindergarten Reading Specialist? I could get lost in books for days. In the last few years my interest in motivational books has grown and the amount of time I have to read has dwindled.

I am totally not making an excuse here and I will own the fact that if it was a bigger priority I would find a way the problem is reading for enjoyment is just lower on the priority list but I knew there had to be a way to still take in this content.

And in came a conversation with my husband. He had done one of those trials from Audible, you know the ones, you get two free books and can cancel at any time. Except, he didn’t cancel and he finally realized it and the fact that we had like 5 credits and said he was going to cancel and that is when it hit me! What if I used those credits to listen to books??

We never canceled that subscription and that was almost 2 years ago! Listening to books was the perfect solution for me. I now listen to them in the car and while I go on long runs!

Yes, you read that correctly. I listen to audiobooks while I am running. I stopped listening to music and honestly it took my focus off the actual running and put it on a book so I would forget about the distance and just keep running! It was a win all around.

I wanted to share with you my 3 all time favorite books to listen to while I am running! And if I am being honest I have listened to each of them a few times each!

  1. The High Five Habit by Mel Robbins – Mel Robbins has to be one of my favorite authors and she even has a fantastic podcast. She provides simple strategies to larger problems and makes it all seem doable without giving you that overwhelmed feeling. I love this book the most as it dives deep into the power of a high five. I started implementing this strategy with myself, with my kids, and with my students and the power is real!
  2. The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins – Yep she is on my list twice! This was my first introduction to Mel Robbins and the idea of counting down from 5 to get yourself moving at first seemed well, crazy. But this strategy helped me build my morning routine, which helped me get ahead in my business, and gave me time to focus on gratitude which improved my health. One simple strategy yielded all those results.
  3. Atomic Habits by James Clear – This is a must read for anyone trying to incorporate habits into their lifestyle. This book changed my own wellness journey and changed the way I coach others. Small habits can make all the difference!

Whether you are all about getting cozy with a large blanket and a good book or need to listen to it on the go these books can help give you the motivation and strategies you need to be successful!

Let me know your go to books below!
